Skills & Passions

Programming

My greatest passion of them all - programming. My love for technology is mostly software-based, as software allows hardware to be so versatile. As I go forth, I'm gradually turning coding into a skill, not just a passion.

Education

Being the most important of my life, and hopefully many others, education is one of the few things in my life where my personal standards exceed the expectations of those who expect.

Excellence is something I strive for - nothing can be more rewarding than a bright future.

Beyond that, education goes further than academics.

Educating myself isn't so far from a hobby - I often find myself looking for something new to learn, whether it be finding a way to add a feature to my phone, or learning a new html tag. I don't mean browsing the media, that's a bit different.

Pens

I have a modest liking of pens. When it comes to penmanship or calligraphy, I've been lazy, but pens hold a special place in my heart.

I'm certainly not a pen collector, but I do enjoy the concept of being a pen enthusiast. To demonstrate my point...

  • Microsoft Surface 3 with Surface Pen
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with Pen

The surface uses microsoft's own technology to operate - it works well, especially with the added comfort of multiple tips for different styles. It is pressure sensitive and has a bluetooth button.

The note 4 uses a wacom digitizer to power its pen. The pen is accurate and can be stored directly inside the phone itself. It is pressure sensitive and has a button.

I'm more interested in technology than pens, but I have found ways to bring them together in the form of digital inking.

Gaming

Nothing beats sitting back infront of the monitor and popping open a game. It can be both relaxing and exciting. Playing video games is a huge part of my life. It's an out to all of the stress-inducing things of life.

I don't have many games, but the ones I do come in different shapes and sizes. The majority of my time is spent in MMOs (massive multiplay online games). As the acronym suggests, these games hold servers that receive traffic from thousand, even millions of players on a daily basis, all of which interact with each other.

My favorite game development company is Blizzard Entertainment. They deliver a level of quality and polish they I haven't seen beat yet. I enjoy all of their games, and for their newest hit, Overwatch, the developers are actively listening to and responding to user feedback, making the game change dynamically based on how the players believe.

Roleplay

Gaming is a long hobby of mine, but my favorite game has always been World of Warcraft (WoW), an MMORPG. One of my favorite things to do in WoW was to roleplay. Roleplaying (RP) is where you use the avatar you create in game to create stories and visualize them with other people.

Roleplaying is not for everyone, it takes a certain person for it. Due to the fact that roleplaying is lore-based (both existing and created), a lot of reading and writing is involved. You have to understand how things work in the provided universe (in this case the Warcraft universe), as well as know how to collaberatively create stories as if you were only a single character in it.

The reason it's so appealing to me is because it's essentially a second life - a life where the boundaries of reality are redefined by authors, not physics or politics. It's an escape from this world, which can sometimes be overwhelming, and that's exactly why RP exists - to relieve and to entertain.
